Roof Softwash
Cleaning your roof isn’t a job for the faint of heart. In fact, if you don’t have the right tools and training for roof cleaning, it can be downright hazardous. The best way to keep your roof in tip-top shape is to hire professional roofers. Your roof is one of your most valuable investments.
Benefits
Prevent Premature Roof Failure
The buildup of moss, algae, and debris on your roof can be extremely damaging to your roof structure. Debris allows moisture to build up against your shingle shingles. In addition, moss can break down your shingle adhesives and allow water to seep underneath. Summit Softwash prevents growth and maintains your roof for the long term.
Increase Curb Appeal
Roof cleaning adds to your home’s curb appeal right away. Whether you’re looking to sell your home or simply want to keep it looking its best, it’s important to keep your roof in tip-top shape. We encourage everyone to get their roofs cleaned and treated on a regular basis to maintain the value of your home.
Gentle Cleaning
Summit Softwash’s safe practices ensure the roof’s structural integrity is maintained. Our process begins with a clean sweep of large amounts of moss, followed by a spray of Summit’s unique combination of soap and a biodegradable solution to remove all bacteria from the roof. We leave the remaining moss particles to be blown off by the wind and rain over the coming months. There is no pressure washing or scraping.
Types of Roofs We Service:
When it comes to those hard-to-maintain areas of your home’s roof, you’ll want to make sure you’re familiar with the company you’re dealing with and the process that’s being used. Summit Softwash provides cleaning services for all roof types. Our process is engineered to maintain your roof’s condition for years to come, eliminating the need for annual roof treatments!
Asphalt Shingles:
While asphalt shingles are attractive, durable, and relatively inexpensive to install, they are prone to attracting algae and moss. Moss can grow rapidly in shaded areas and spread quickly. We suggest a Softwash every 3 to 5 years to prevent moss growth from damaging the shingle.
Metal:
Metal sheeting may not be the first choice for many people in the Northeast, but we often see metal roof systems covered with debris and algae very quickly! While we do not see moss growth on metal roof systems, we do see the growth of algae. Algae, on the other hand, erodes the paint that is covering your metal roof. If left untreated, algae will cause rust on your metal roof. Rust on your metal roof can cause a lot of problems in the long run. Therefore, it is a good idea to get your roof inspected regularly to make sure that algae does not grow on your metal roof!
Frequently Asked Questions
Is pressure washing bad for my roof?
Yes. Pressure washing can be very damaging to almost any kind of roof. Your roofing manufacturer could void your roof warranty if a pressure washer is used to clean it. That's why we designed a very low pressure treatment process that ensures no damage and a long lasting roofing system.
How do you clean my roof?
Our roof cleaning process involves a light sweep of large moss, and a blowoff of loose debris. We then spray a cleaning mixture (pressure of a garden hose) that sanitizes all moss and algae on the roof. The rain and wind will wash/blow the dead remaining moss particles off your roof in a short few months after. No Damage = Happy Roof If you have a metal roof, we will wash it clean with low pressure the same day.
How do you price roof cleaning?
There are a couple of things to consider such as if you live in an area that causes your roof to be more susceptible to discoloring or algae deposits. The price essentially depends on how much SQ FT of work is needed and what type of roof you have, but rest assured, we never carry out any work without you knowing the final price. Give us a call and we will be more than happy to talk with you to give you a detailed and precise quote for your cleaning project!
